About Us

Ellen Nelson, Owner

I have been in the Early Childhood Education field since 2000. I am currently enrolled at Sac State and finishing my BA in Early Childhood Education and will graduate in Spring 2019. I have mentored for Placer County of Education for many years but I am taking a break while I am in school. I love my job and working with children and hope to continue in this career for many years.

I have been married to a wonderful man since 2000 and we have four children together. I have a love for being outdoors and moving our bodies. I really enjoy working out and knitting.

Peas in a Pod Childcare and Preschool

Peas in a Pod Preschool and Childcare has been open in Lincoln, CA since 2003. I opened my childcare so I could be home with my children and do what I love. Our school focuses on learning through experiences and play. Our philosophy is that children are capable beings that just need some guidance, support and love.

We offer an environment were the children can lead the learning and are allowed to be independent.  We focus on being a safe place where children can be comfortable enough to be independent in their learning. We create this type of environment by being available to the children and offering them support when needed or asked for. We provide lots of hugs and encouraging words to help support children in learning in a positive manner.

While amazing preschool teachers are hard to find and keep we have been extremely lucky with very little turnover. Our staff is made up of qualified teachers who have been in the field for many years. Most have spent time studying early childhood education also. Most of the staff are moms and have children ranging from five to twenty years old. Lucky for me and the children our staff is super loving and really cares about the children and our school. Our goal is to try and create a family like environment where everyone feels comfortable, and I feel like we are succeeding.
